There is this misconception about fashion shows with their outfits and attires. Most people think that they would need some kind of ability to actually dress up in the fashion pieces presented on the runway. This is however untrue. The Glitz Africa Fashion show highlighted the different designs, patterns, and prints from each designer. There was something for everyone as all designers had something different to offer from the next, outfits for every purpose, including church dresses too. On display were church appropriate dresses, church hats and church suits that you can rock, straight from the runway to your religious gatherings. The dull misconception of fashion shows was corrected in the Glitz Africa Fashion Week, hosted in Accra.

The event was a spectacle as designers displayed their visions through the energies, fabrics, and poise of their models. However, what we couldn’t help but notice were certain pieces that were not only church appropriate but were equally fabulous and comfortable. Hence making your walks of faith very chic and conservative. We’ll be highlighting some church dresses and suits from the show to give you inspiration when dressing up this Sunday. Because we know that finding the right outfits for church especially on Sunday mornings can be a bit of a workout. Hence, if you already have a vision of what you can wear, dressing up will be so much easier. 

Church Dresses, Church Hats and Church Suits from the GAFW 2018

The fashion show highlighted the works of several designers. With our focus being church attires, designers did not disappoint as so many church dresses, church hats and church suits were on display in the GAFW runway. Some of them are:

Church Dresses 

Jants collection projected some very beautiful but conservative pieces that we all can wear to church. His African culture dress had African prints on the torso region and a sheer black print all the way down. The dress had a medium V-neck, not revealing in anyway, and also long sleeves that burst into a bell-shaped sleeve. The A-line symmetry of this dress made it the perfect church attire. You can pair this with a medium perch church hat, and you’re ready to be in His presence. However, if you cannot cop this statement dress from Jants collection, you may as well present this sample to your tailor and hope it turns out well. 

Ophelia Crossland had some pretty amazing designs at the GAFW 2018. From gold fabrics to knee length silhouette dresses and finally the round neck dress. It was a display of class, sophistication, and comfort as the models strutted their stuff down the runway, all beautifully adorned. One of her best pieces was the teal colored dress which was made with lace fabrics. However, the model didn’t use any form of head cover, but this would look perfect with a blackchurch hat. Every crisp detail about the dress was made whole and will undoubtedly make you a star in your church.

Aboutthatcurvylife showcased beautiful church dresses for plus sized women that we cannot get enough of. This brand is teaching women to embrace their bold and beautiful curves and is giving them the right perspective about the designs that go with their diverse body types. This designer displayed a black feathery A-line dress along with a silver/black budding dress. The models carried themselves with tremendous poise and made going to church look rather glamorous.

Moofa designs kicked it up a notch with contemporary two-piece designs. It was an intersection of vintage and class. The designs subtly highlighted a woman’s key features while drawing attention to her sophisticated side. The fabrics used were soft, lush and very comfortable. You can incorporate these designs into your church clothes and look effortlessly chic.

Church Suits 

Church Suits were not left out of this show as beautifully patterned suits were on display from Caesar couture, Mai Atafo and many more. These designers found a way of making suits look less of a compulsory Monday morning attire and more of a vibrant Sunday piece. Both ladies and gentlemen were seen rocking these suits with sheer elegance and charisma. It was definitely refreshing to see suits being accessorized in different ways, with church hats and heels. Switch it up a bit this week and go for a full church suit, you will definitely not regret it.
